With Gus Kleffel, John Ditko worked and later gained full ownership of the store. It was under Ditko's ownership that Kleffel's changed predominantly to a clothing retailer.
On April 5, 1990 under new ownership of Steve Lawrence, Kleffel's suffered a devastating fire.
This led to Kleffel's moving to its current residence in the Clearview Shopping Center at 1000 Carlisle Street.
After taking residence in its new location and under Lawrence's ownership Kleffel's expanded twice to offer almost 30,000 square feet of retail floor space.
The latest in line of local owners, Eric Hormel believes in Kleffel's continuance of offering the full, friendly customer service only a locally run store can offer.
